We look forward to
seeing as many of you as possible for a great week in support of our Armed Forces.

The Festival, now in its second year, is offering another seven days of fun for all the family and some fascinating insights into military life past and present, with a focus for Festival 2014 on the centenary of the start of the First World War.

Events will include:

Queens Avenue will be closed on Saturday 28th June from 06.00 am to 19.00 pm and on Sunday 29th June from 08.00 to 14.40 due to the Fun Run.


The closure will affect the section between the roundabout at Redvers Buller Road and the traffic lights at the junction of Alisons Road  - please use alternative routes.

On Monday and Friday there will be a tour of Aldershot Military Cemetery.  Author talks will be given at the Prince Consort’s Library Monday to Thursday between 6.00pm and 7.30pm.  Wednesday to Friday a  Schools Art Exhibition will be on display at the West End Centre. A Film Festival will again be held at Cineworld at Westgate, with a host of military-themed movies shown  Monday through Friday.


On Wednesday there will be a Military Heritage Town Tour which is a guided walk visiting the main features of the Military Town. Also on Wednesday evening there will be a Festival Concert at the Princes Hall.


On Thursday and Friday there will be  Command Task Workshops at Princes Avenue and on Friday there will be a production of ‘Our Friends, The Enemy’ at the West End Centre.


The highlight of the week will be our family Open Day featuring stands from our local units as well as Military Museums; First World War re-enactors linking with today’s Military in a ‘Then & Now’ theme, particularly on medical improvements. A rugby sevens tournament will take place throughout the day and there will be displays by Jump for Heroes and the Queens Company of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, the IMPS motorcycle display team, Regular and Reservist units and finally we are honoured to host the Band of 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.


In addition 17 different Army sports will be demonstrated at various venues throughout the site.  The swimming pool in the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre will be open this year and will enable there to be a demonstration by the British Synchronised Swimming Team. The public will be able to try out the sports as well as watching  Army Sports demonsrations. As an added attraction for 2014, on Sunday 29th June there will be a 10k Fun Run in aid of SSAFA which will include a SSAFA Mile and a Children’s Run around the Military Stadium. Also featuring on Saturday and  Sunday will be the Great British Tennis Weekend at the tennis centre.
